Glove Box Latch Removal On A C/k

1983 C-10:

So, I'm trying to swap the door cover on my glove box for one from a different color interior truck that I'm modifying to make sure the hinge stays. The problem is I have no idea how the latch is removed. I could smash one of them into tiny bits to get it out, but I have to preserve at least one for my truck. Does anyone know how to do this while keeping the latch intact? I will keep trying on my own, but if someone answers in time, it would make it a lot easier.

Ok, so I tore one apart but in the process figured out how to take the other one apart without breaking it. So, for the benefit of anyone viewing this topic I will describe how I did it.

First you pry off the handle carefully using a screwdriver or other prying type tool. Once you get the handle off, you will see the latch cylinder and around it a collar. Grip the collar with the tip of a pair of channel lock pliers. Turn the latch shell (the part inside the glove box) with your hand while making sure the collar does not turn. As you turn, it will get loose and eventually the collar will no longer be threaded into the latch shell. At this point you can pull the latch cylinder out from the latch shell and remove from the glove box door. Installation is the reversal of removal.
