Reverse Clunk

ok 2006 suburban 2500 my millionth problem its been cold lately and when i start the truck up after a cold night and let it warm up everything seems fine but when i put it in reverse and try to back up theres a loud clunk sound in about 50 feet i get around 1 to 3 clunks at first i thought at was tapping a garbage can down my driveway but its coming from the rear of my truck please help any ideas??

Sounds like your u-joints may be going out. Put the truck in nuetral, set the parking break, crawl undernieth and wiggle the drive line. You should be able to tell if the u joints are shot or not. good luck

I had my center carrier bearing out this past week. From the sound of it I would look at it as definitely a possibility. Mine went clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk when starting out. Didn't notice it in reverse though. U joints were okay.
