I was researching for Toyota Bias in Consumer Reports, and I saw their 2010 Best Picks. And Guess what Made the List! the 2010 Silverado AND the 2010 Traverse! This is a red letter day for GM owners!

Consumer reports suck and always did, did you see what made the number 3 slot? I heard this on tv the Lexus which is really a Toyota Camry with all the problems they have. They cater to the Foreign vehicle market.

They definitely are biased towards the foreign automakers, but it's nice to see that at least a couple good cars made the list. Now if we can get rid of all the crap we'll be doing good.

It is nice to see them appearing to be unbiased for a change.

I agree! First time I've seen that in my lifetime.

I don't think anything changed with them, they just wanted to avoid the negative media attention of them voting these cars at the top when so many of them are being recalled...

They're supposed to be unbiased and this sort of thing isn't supposed to make a difference. :sigh:

BUT.

They have forever been biased. When the same vehicle is produced and sold at Toyota and its clone through GM dealerships, they have forever given the Toyota rave reviews and skewered the GM offering. The Corolla/Nove twins. The Corolla/Prizm twins. The Matrix/Vibe twins... all got very diferent reviews and they always favored the Totoya offering.

Rather ridiculous and obvious when they were built on the same assembly line BY TOYOTA.

Very very true, had some alcoholic beverages there Jim? Nove, Totoya?

Exactly!! I'm glad I'm not the only person to ever notice that.

I would never defend Consumer Reports as they are nothing but a bunch of salid eating libs IMHO. The reason this happens with most product rating groups is based on service after the sale. GM does not get high marks, yet the Toyota does...before this last gas pedal fiasco.

They are STILL getting high marks as the Lexus LS 460L (a rebadged Toyota Camry) is the best car over all with the gas pedal fiasco. Ford and Dodge are in the same boat as us.

They're still biased, there just aren't many Toyota's not being recalled that they can recommend. As soon as the recalls are all done they will be back to their old ways.

Sorry... but that's ridiculous. If the LS460 is a rebadged Camry, then the ZR1 is a rebadged Cobalt. The two cars share exactly ZERO components. The LS460 is an incredible car even to those who hate Toyota. I just had to call BS on that one.

I do agree with your assumption that CR has always been biased in favor of Japanese cars. A decade ago, they had reason to be... back when the big 3 were building crappy cars. Thankfully that is changing big time now.
