hey im looking around to buy a programer for my 07 vortec max.....what whould be my best choice there is plenty of those on the market....and I have the heavy foot syndrome :shakehead: ...will the tranny hold the tuned up vortec max power???

Skip the handhelds and get a Black Bear tune, BB is cheaper and way more effective than any handheld will be also do some searching, they have tune meets all over the US where they ride with you and adjust things on the fly

yeah so that kind of scares me out ...im no fuel milage driver more often full throtle than slow going....is that a shure shot that if i tune my MAX that tranny will burn away ??? anybody else got bad things to say about programing...

the only reason I want that is to make shure i blew pass my friend with his 09 hemi once in a while. any other sugestion???

you could regear lol, running a tune comes with the risk of nukeing a tranny...the 6.0 is a hemi killer either way lol, if anything get a BB and get it tuned so tow mode wipes out torque management so you cut down your chances of putting a bullet in the trans

I have diablo right now for my truck and I'm very pleased with the performance results. With that said, I'm going to get a Black bear custom tune in April and my tuner will be up for sale. I'm interested in reducing TQ management and better shifts which unfortunately the Diablo can't do right now.

It made my trucks power band much stronger and smoother along with dramatic improvement of throttle control. Prior to the diablo, it had HORRIBLE throttle response due to the delay. Diablo fixed that. :shakehead:

I assure you I've not had problems. I actually have a custom tune installed, created from a member here and uploaded to the diablo. The lack of TCM support is why I'm selling. With that said, Its night and day how well the truck runs compared to stock. I've had hypertech in the past, and quite frankly, their tuning is more conservative than others. If Diablo wasn't something you wanted, my next handheld choice would have been a Superchips. They also work well with the 6.0.

The real advantage I see with the Diablo has been their online forum for instant/near instant answers and support. The ability to update the firmware, tunes and the ability to upload custom tunes. Only downside was the promise of TCM support for the last 2 years that never happened.

When I sell it (April), I'm gonna ask $250 shipped, and that comes with the custom tune (that would work in your truck I think) cables to upload files to/from the diablo, original paperwork and box.

If your interested, PM me.

one very important thing that i forgot to mention is that my truck have already 100k which is around 60 milles and dont forget im 23 year old and love the sound of squeeking tires...main concern the link a good feela sent me on top here saying the story of that guy who remove torque management and ruin his trans does any of those handheld unit remove this protection...or every action you take are very well explained and you have idea what you are playing in.

again I never did that before altho i understand mecanic prety well and by the way what the hell you all mean with TCM lol

Fixed that for ya.

As said, skip the handhelds and go talk to Justin at Black Bear. I'm 25 and have had a tune for some time now, still haven't grenaded my transmission. So learn to love the sound of tires not squealing, or get a Corvette.

yeah i understood that since a while but the only thing i dont like about the BB is that im stuck with what i have...id like to put it back to stock seting if I ever do need to....

TCM = Transmission Control Module.

As corrected above, I mistyped. The diablo for the GMT-900 has no control over the TCM yet. I'll let you know when I'm ready.
