Dealer says my truck is scheduled to be built the first week of April in Flint Michigan. I live about a 10 hour drive away in Ontario, Canada. Any guesses as to when it should show up at the dealer?

Thanks

I'm in Toronto, ordered mine Jan-06-2010, checked with the dealership yesterday & for some reason it's been pushed back to March-15th to go down the line, probably see it the week after, then with dealer installed accessories, the last week in March!!

Was told 8-12 weeks from time of ordering.

I ordered mine June 19, 2009 and it arrived August 31, 2009. Mine was built in Fort Wayne. Hated waiting but it was worth it.

Customer orders depend on what the factory has scheduled to run. For instance-if a truck already scheduled is close to a customer (actually dealer) order, then the factory scheduling staff has the option to make minor changes along the assembly line to meet that particular order but not upset the flow of the line. Factory scheduling is done months in advance, some dealers (franchised) are sent trucks they didn't order but they were next in line to receive a truck. Independent dealers have more say-so as to what they order, they usually pay up front. Shipping also depends on mileage from the plant. Vehicles going within a certain distance will go by carrier (truck) to the dealer, others will go by rail to a holding lot, then by carrier to the dealer. A holding lot may/could add as much as two weeks to delivery. Note: I was at a GMC dealership one day when the carrier came in. There was a red Suburban up on top for that dealer which he was not expecting, but the papers were correct. When the truck driver got the ramps all set, then went to get the unit, he started hollering to call the POLICE! There were two (2) illegals in the truck who had ridden all the way from the plant in Mexico. They somehow broke in and settled down for the ride. I wonder how often this happens. David

Hello, I have a 2008 Silverado, and was wondering how you can tell where the truck was built?

Thank you for your time and response.

Ron

Ron,

There are a few ways you can tell were your truck was built, some plants put a sticker on the inside of the drivers-side door (The Fort Wayne,IN. and Flint,MI. plants do,The Oshawa,Ontario plant does not)

You can also look at the first digit of the VIN to tell if it was produced in the U.S.,Canada,or Mexico...."1" is U.S. built,"2" is Canadian built,"3" is Mexican built.

You can also look at the SPID label in glovebox,Each plant has its own 3-digit RPO code that is printed on the SPID label,For example the Fort Wayne,IN. plants code is "FWI",The Oshawa plants code is "OSG"

If you still cannot figure out where your truck was built, post the last 8 digits of your VIN,I can run it and tell you where it was built.
