1993 G3500 Van: Replacing D/s Door Latch/lock?

My 1993 G3500 Vandura's driver-side door lock isn't latching closed anymore. I've been fighting with it for the past two days trying to remove the whole latching/lock assembly but no luck. Anyone got any tips or tricks, I'd really appreciate some help here. Thanks.

Not too familiar with the van, but on the truck, there are two bolts, one you can see and the other you need to remove the inner door panel to get at, that remove the black exterior handle. If you are trying to remove the stricker components, those things are usually on there pretty good. I do not remember if they are bolted or screws, but on an old truck that had screws, I needed to get one of those impact type screw-drivers and some BP Blaster to get it off.

Thanks Mike. It took unbelievable long for me to get the darn thing out but I did it. The problem was the two crescent-shaped metal gears that enclose the door strike when you close the door. The rivets holding them in place wore out so I drilled them out and replaced with hardened bolts, lock nut and some Loctite. I also replaced the door hinge pins and bushings while I was at it. She's good to go now!
