99 Yukon Trans Slips Occasionally

Its a 99 Yukon. It drives fine most of the time. Sometimes the transmission will slip and feel not engaged. Reverse fails to when it happens. If the truck is shut off for a minute or so, the trans is fine again. A few time there was a slight clicking noise as the trans slipped. I did a search here, and saw the article about disconnecting the Alt. I will try that.

Any other known issues i missed, or ideas on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

disconnecting the alt is NOT going to do anything, you have an electrical problem from what you wrote ,you can't fix it yourself ,do not throw parts at it ,you have to take it to a tech with a real scanner ..a tech II

oil level and condition and if the SES light on was not mentioned, changing the oil will NOT fix it either

sry brother, its the only way ,take it in

Thanks for the rapid reply sir. There is no ses light, and the scanner shows no codes thrown. I should have mentioned that. Fluids are clean and full to. I guess its time to bring it in. The shop i spoke to said it may be a celinoid. That sound right to you? I will have to be sure they have the tech 2 also.

Thanks again for you reply!

there is always a code or a solinoid, and a tech 2 scanner costs 3 large so your little corner garage mechanic will NOT have one .DEALER only.

always remember that corner garage mechanics are ALWAYS behind in technology by at least 3yrs,now 5 yrs on powertrain
