I Don't Know Why....

It always feels good to get the oil changed. Tonight was an awesome evening outside, so I got the oil changed in my truck. Fresh mobil 1 Full synthetic 5w-30 and an AcDelco filter.

After that, I changed the 2 drive belts on my wifes Intrepid.. with a little help from a friend. Basically no room and I didn't have a 14m wrench.

Next, I've got new Slotted rotors and ceramic pads coming for the truck along with some new camping mirrors. Should be like Christmas in a few days..

Nice, I was going to change the oil in the Silverado for my first time myself tonight, but I think I'll do it tomorrow. I was taking it to a local lube place getting Mobil 1 5-30 and a Mobil 1 filter for $25, but the last time I took it in they told me they were losing there asses on it and were going to have to start charging $50 + tax. So I'll just do it myself from now on.

Walmart has it for $23 for a 5 quart jug and 5.36 for the 6th quart. I think thats a decent price.

I've checked and they were about the same price as me doing it myself, but they got to deal with the used oil, topped off my washer fluid, tried to wash the windows, checked all my other fluids, and checked the tires.

I think I'll switch to Mobil 1 full synthetic next time I change my oil. And possibly do it myself. And thanks for the prices at Walmart. I will deff be buying from there

Yes, Walmart has good prices on oil. I just found that they sell two gallon jugs of Rotella 15W40 oil, and I need 6 gallons for my deuce and a half, and two gallons for my diesel Mercedes.

Beware, if it's the first time changing your oil in a GMT-900 5.3L be forewarned that the oil SHOOTS out of the drain plug as if under pressure for some reason. The inside of my passenger side tire (and my whole arm) was coated with used oil by the time I was done! I now use a strategically placed piece of plastic to divert the stream downward and also punch holes in the filter to drain it before removing. Cuts way down on the mess.

I have to agree for some reason you feel better when the truck has new oil and filter.

Yes! I agree with you too! It's like putting on a fresh pair of underwear! haha

I bought 6L of Castrol Syntec from Costco yesterday for $30! Up here thats a hell of a deal! haha

I learned after my first oil change and it shot so far out it splashed up the tire. You need a long oil pan too, cause after it starts to slow down the flow, you'll miss the pan directly under it..

I just put down a big piece of cardboard to assure I don't get it on the driveway..

Walmarts the place to buy M1... The AcDelco Filters under $4 too.
