This Is New To Me!

Well,

Last year I bought an 05 silverado with only 15,000 on it. Anyway recently a squeeking noise is coming from right behind the steering wheel. Kinda sounds like rubber on plastic or the like. It happens when I turn the steering wheel.I was told on another forum it may be the horn ring that dried out? I'm guessing this is somewhat normal for chevy's and gmc trucks? anyone know how to replace it or have an idea what the prob might be?

I know it's not power steering, the sound isn't in the engine compartment. Thanks for any help!

I tried getting some silicone lube in there but couldn't get in it's really tight behind the steering wheel.

yeah theres a ring that rubs on the steering wheel causeing that, i think its a matter of taking the wheel off to get to it...on all 3 gmt-800s that i deal with none have had the issue...hopefully somebody thats danced with this problem can hop in here

Mine was actually the clockspring's inner harness rubbing the wrong way...tear down the shaft and look for any loose zip ties, cables that may be loose as well as the clockspring itself. this will help you tear it down:
