What are everybody's thoughts on having to give your Social Sercurity Number and Drivers's License number in an online job application?

I know it's for a job and with a company, but I'm alway hesitant on filling in my SSN or DL#, even if it is for an application.

What are your thoughts? Would you do it?

If I didnt know the company or anything about it, I would do some research to make sure it really is a company instead of someone trying get your info.

I would definatly call the company first to make sure the online application is legit.

That's a tough one, I've done it before and I've declinded to do it before. I guess if you know who the comapany is you can see if they sell that information or not.

You can put a number like this on it 000-00-000. Then if they hire you it can be fixed on your employment papers.

I didn't think about that. I might do that. I know the company is legit, it's Safelite Autoglass Repair.

Including your SSN would be a good idea, as most companies check your creditworthiness as a condition of hire anymore. Your DL number however, only has validity of the job would require you driving for business purposes or driving a company vehicle. So it's not critical and up to you to omit or not.

i'm very iffy about punching my ssn number or bank account number into anything online, its so easy for somebody to steal your identity and never be caught

Calling first is a great idea, cover all your bases...but just so you guys know...If someone really wanted all your SSN and DL#, bank accounts credit cards etc, etc, they're just a few computer programs away. The security software that is written for places like e-bay, Paypal, online banking...etc is only as good as the person who wrote it, there are always backdoors.

And there goes everyone's tin foil helmets...:driving::fume::lol:

If they're checking my credit then I'm f****d. No wonder I haven't had any offers. :P
