Frame Starting To Rust?

Recommended Posts

My truck is a year and a half old. I noticed that the frame is rusting. The undercoating is chipping off and rusting. Do you guys think this is premature. It doesn't look right to me I will bring it in and let them look at it. Take a look at your frames and let me know.

Take care,

Matt

normal...

its normal.. mine just turned 2 years old and the same things starting to happen. From what i know you can get under there before winter and "oil" it. I believe that literally consists of wiping oil all over the thing. I duno I have heard of people doing that

Weather just turned around here. Next time I get some free time I am going to get under there with my pressure washer some degreaser and some flat black paint and touch up the rusts spots.... Unless anyone else has a better idea? I dont want to wait for it to get real bad and then need sand blasted and re-painted...

Yea, I know what you mean. I know the frame will rust in time. It just looks like the undercoating is peeling off and its not a slow process it seems like It's getting bad quick!

Its normal, mine started rusting after 6 months. Blame the salty canadian roads. And yes i had my truck undercoated, but it wore off pretty fast in the rear wheel well area. Gonna hit it with some tremclad one of these days.

Get some good undercoating spray and spend the day painting the under side. I did it 3 weeks ago, it took me about 2 hrs. I also used bed liner spray in my wheel wells, makes a huge difference.

EDIT: Look at that, 1000 posts!
