35x12.50x18 Help

So guys, i seen a cc nnbs silverado z71 with only a leveling kit last night. it had 35x12.50/18 tires on it, with no cutting showing from the side view. how did he fit 35" tires in there? i know there are others and i'm about to purchase tires. i want to fit 35" tires because that's what ford's run and i dont want to be any smaller wether it's 2" or more. how much of a hassle is it to get them to fit if you got a cc z71 sierra with a 2.25" readylift on it? help

I had to trim A LOT to get my 305/55/20s to fit... and you can't tell from the side. actually, you can't even tell that I trimmed by looking in the wheel well unless you have another truck there to compare it to.

 

You WILL need to trim metal.. and i bet the tires still rub (at least the frame/sway bar with stock wheels). Remember, some people will put up with some rubbing just for the sake of running big tires... are you one of those people?

yeah. I rubbing isn't as bad as everyone makes it to be. Tires rubbed on my f-150 for 3 years and 50,000 miles and it ran fine and never had any problems out of it. They rubbed the paint off of the frame where it touched but why does that matter? It doesn't. But anyways, you may be right, I may have not spotted the trimming. Where all will they rub? he had 35x12.50x18 pro comp xtreme all terrains on stock wheels but i'm thinking about getting after market wheels with my tires. did you trim metal like you stated above? and trimming isn't bad but i don't want to have to beat the fender wheels out because this is a new 2010 and my dad wouldn't approve of any of this but it's whatever. a lot of the farmers around here do whatever it takes to run what they want and I have the same mentality

Maybe try some 34" tires that are pretty narrow, so you just have to cut some plastic and hopefully not metal? The width and setting them out further are the two biggest factors of how bad it's going to be.

Hey matt, what kind of trimming do you think I would need to do for 35x12.5's on a 18x8 4.7" backspacing on 7.5" of lift?

 

wow, interesting question!

 

an 8" wide wheel with 4.7" backspace is like running a 9" wide wheel with 5.7" backspace in terms of fitment with the fenders.... based on that, you should be pretty good running 35x12.5s especially with 7.5"

Awesome thanks for the reply. I am wanting to avoid as much trimming as possible, I would consider putting in a body lift to do that if neccessary, but am hesitant because I still want max payload capability.

The guy (owner I think) at Performance Offroad on South Stadium, down by the softball complex in Jonesboro, says he can cut your fenders and reshape the wheel liners to fit 35's with stock sized wheels for $150. I saw the work he did on his own truck (Ford), and it looked amazingly clean.

 

You really need to trade me those 18's for my 20's, while we're on the subject :thumbs:

yeah i'm friends with the owner of russells truck accessories son. he said they've trimmed 2 new body style(07-10) gm trucks to fit 35" tires. i really wanna run 35"s though. and I want your 20"s but it'll be weird because they no longer put them on the 2010's and thats what mine is haha and is that performance offroad place still open? it appeared empty a few days ago when i drove by it

I did a lot of bidness at Russell's when I had my Dodge... The other place moved farther South on Stadium, new building. They just reopened a couple of months ago.

 

You won't be weird if you get my 20's, you'll be unique...

I am deffinately interested in this as well. I really dont want to go 6", but if I have to I will. I would rather do a level and 35's...

 

Yeah there are pictures of a white sierra with 35" toyo mt's with just a leveling kit. look up "NorthFlaRedneck" he has one and it looks a ton better than many lifted trucks. and mike i'm the same as you, i don't want to lift and thats why i'm going to figure out how to fit 35" tires in there and hester thanks for the information i'm going to check their new shop out after i find it haha.

      Because single shot injectors are ancient and multi hole injectors provide smoother running engines and sharper throttle response due to the fuel being atomized better..the best lead I have is a 24lb blue top injector almost everything matches up but the injector will put out about 26lb/hr which is just outside the gm threshold.figured id ask here to see if there was an absolute answer

      Why is my question?   Any change in injectors requires a tune. Unless you are going back with the OEM part number or a newer part number of that same injector.   Any size difference or type difference like the EV6 style injectors all have different injector data for them. And there is no EV6 injector that matches the factory 25 lb/hr size that your truck comes with. I've been messing with these trucks and tuning them for a long time and what you trying to do doesn't exactly make sense to me.

      My 6.6 gas lt8 had lifter noise with 28000 miles bought new 2026 and while driven to dealer it threw #1 rod bearing “HD my ass” good luck with yours i hope it don’t turn a rod bearing!

      Thought it was raining this morning when we woke. Nope. Dew point was over 80 F and humidity 98%. Zero visibility distance. Everything was 'sweating'. I've seen rain come out of clouds but never out of Pepper or the tree trunks.    Wicked storms just missed us sliding off to the east but by blocks. Heat index about 110 F with air temp in the 90's.    This is  our third wave this month of multiple days of this type of weather. And yet the grass is going dormant and the ground is cracking this side of the street and water up the the hood opposite. Just weird stuff going on.
