Excessive Steeringwheel Play

Most probably worn ball sockets. Park the truck, get someone to get behind the wheel while you get under and locate the ball sockets. Let them rock the steering and if there is looseness in the ball joints.....whala.

2500HD's have a stock steering stabilizer. My truck used to wander a lot before I changed it out. It is better now. The stabilizer wasn't able to dampen the sudden bumps or quick turns. Cost me about 60 bucks to replace it. I used a Rancho replacement. This might be your problem.

make sure everything is greased good, and does it make like a knocking sound when you turn the wheel? If so it might be a worn steering shaft. The fix for that is to get a new heavy duty steering shaft for borgeson

I recently had the exact same problem on my 2001 2500hd. Initially I thought it was the steering box, but my diagnosis was inconclusive, when I looked closely I noticed my inner tie rod ends were the problem. I installed a set of the super-heavy duty aftermarket ones with excellent success.
