Lowering help, 2000 Tahoe

I'm buying a 2000 Tahoe next weekend and want to drop that sucka!  4 door 4wd,

From the good old days I recall Belltech being the equipment of choice.  I will be towing with the truck so I don't want to compromise ride too much.  For anti-rolll I will just change out the sway bars.

Anybody dropped a Tahoe?

Welcome to the site!

I have heard some people complain about the belltechs, but I myself have no experience with them.  It will cost more money to drop it b/c it is 4wd.  You might want to think about if it is worth it to you.  How low would you like to go?

Best bet is when you're about to get into some narly, rocky or low traction situations on a mean trail air down to about 8 - 10 pounds.  This will get you the performance these TRUCKS are made for and when you're done wheeling you just air back up to raise it up to where it belongs... ;)

my 2000 old body Limmited was dropped.   this was a two wheel drive though.

if i were you i would call belltech and ask them they were very helpful to me.

mine had front drop spindles with stock control arms top and bottom bottom control arm had to be knoched so it would not impact the rim.  it was so close it grinded down the wheel balancing weights a bit.  we also used springs and shocks from belltech.

in the rear   on the front of the leaf spring we torched off the stock frame hanger/seat and replaced with belltech lowering hanger and there were longer shackles in the rear. the longer shackle impacted the rubber part of the gas tank fill hose but i never had a problem with it wearing through or anything like that.

i recently lifted it up since i didn't like to have to drive slow all the time.     the ride was excellent though no complaints for normal road riding.   but the speed bumps and occaional gas station entrances were a pain.   i just wanted the truck to be more robust.     but this truck was about as low as they go.  it was lots of fun and i am keeping my kit i might put it back sometime but ill probably sell i am set on a the new body tahoe with a radical lift, not to mention 4x4
