Update...Silverado is mine!! Ended up buying it Thurs night...

My initial test drive of this truck left me real sour about possibly buying it.

I thought about it for over 3 days, and decided I was looking at too much negative, and not enough positive issues about this truck.

So, Thurs after work, I decided to take it for another long test drive, and really look it over **for what it is** and not what it used-to-be.

Yes, it needs some tires,a bit of rocker repair, and a good cleaning...but that's all ?? And $6300 for a Z71 ext cab truck? Considering what the price was, and the final product I'll end up with, I decided to pull the trigger on the purchase.

Another local dealer had the exact same truck, in a tad better shape, and WOULD NOT BUDGE off $9000.

So, I figure for my price, it was a sweet deal. And it's a done deal.

couldn't be happier with my decision. I figured spending $6300 on a summer-project was WAY better than spending nearly $30k for a new truck off the front lot...

I'll get some pics up soon...it's been pouring rain for 3 days here...

Noise in the background when 2 dealers communicate with each other...impact wrenches,buffers,radios...all going at the same time.

He meant to say "6400" but I ended up hearing "5400"

I read the sticker price off one they were unloading at mid night....... XXXXX.XX bucks on the bottom price on the sticker.... I multiplied it by 5% and had an extra 350 bucks for fee's.......... Plus my check book.... It was the truck I wanted when I was looking in 2001....... I had enough money to buy the truck in my left front pocket!!!! I looked at it as they were getting out of it..... That night. The guy that was driving the truck let me catch a peek before he locked it up...

It was a BRAND new 2002 Chevy Silverado LT.... Extended cab... Step Side......... 2wd drive. Fully optioned........ Later that morning the dealer opened haha 8 1/2 hours later.... remember I looked at it at midnight..... I was standing in the front door when the door was unlocked.... Walked in the salesman's office... Hometown Chevy dealer. My home town is about 1500 people..... So there was only 1 salesman and he did it all except was the cars and fix them..... He was the parts hand, salesman, accountant, and receptionist. Anyways, I walked in to his office gave him the VIN number.... Which he began looking for in his paper work.... After he dug for a while I said.... It is the one they dropped off last night. He got up and went and got the paperwork out of the front seat of the truck.

When he returned he said.... Ok, the truck is blah base priced. We put step bars, floor mats, tinted the back 3 windows, vent visors, ARE cap, rust preventative coated the undercarriage, and a couple other things...... Ok, you guys that work in the dealer.... What I fuss about..... Factory tint (aka the windows they tinted), Rust preventative coating............ I said, I want the truck just as it is.... I have the money to buy it right now, in my pocket! He said, well it comes up to 54,XXX.XX plus 5%, and 50 bucks for the state processing, 50 for the city and 100 dollar booking fee for the dealer, and 50 bucks for GM sales booking. I said, NO the window sticker plainly said XX,XXX.XX last night you have DONE NOTHING TO THE TRUCK. It is still sitting where the driver parked it last night. I want it just like it is...... He said NO, NO, NO, we have already done that stuff.... The cap is in the paint shop... It will be done next week.... Basically, he was not going to sell the truck any where near the sticker was...... I said, well I wish ya luck selling it.... Because I am not buying it.... I am going to the dealer in blank dealership, I hear they sell GM's tooo. Less than 3 years later they shut the doors at the dealer ship in my home town for good..... It was a forced close.........

I am still kinda puzzled why they forced them to close..........

The other didn't have a LT Package new truck on the lot. I was walking around saw the 2 tone truck..... Like its looks (plus it had all the options I wanted).. Purchased it....... It was 2 years old..... Had 31k on the clock, opened up the glove box with the salesman standing with me.... A double hand full of GM Service tickets fell out of the glove box..... I grabbed them up..... Looked at the name knew the owner.... Salesman was cutting a flip trying to get them from me.... I said, NOPE, what does this go for? CASH MONEY?......... Drove it off the lot... And had money left over..... Funny.... I may have been young BUT I MEANT I HAD THE MONEY IN MY POCKET!!! Oh yeah I got audited that year also...... Major bummer..... I didn't have to pay any more but had to go and sit for EVER with that guy and let him add up everything several times.....

Second & third pictures are about 3 days after I bought it.....

Fourth a couple months later......

Fifth Summer of 02 (notice that's my dad on the four wheeler, I had just unloaded it out of the truck, it was brand spankn new).....

Sixth & seven the one and only wreck (damages, bumper and lower fender on one side).... I got rear-ended........ Only reason I knew I got hit the CD player skipped... Flattened out the bumper and kick the passengers side in....

The last Ones are really new last month or so..... On the black top is where I had just washed it up good (got the winter washed off of her...)
