so you are talking about modifying the bracket to bring the step bar a little closer to the body... it would look cleaner.

I was lost at first with "foot rails". I'm guessing he means step bars, or running boards.

That's exactly what got me.... "foot rails.... wtf are foot rails?!"

If you do that, the top of the step will be so close to the floor that you may as well remove them all together and send them in a metal scrap yard where they belong.

I wish I could remove mine, but it was one of the conditions of purchase my wife gave me. I guess at 5ft and ****-all, the step comes in handy.

I find they make the truck look too low to the ground even after a leveling kit. If I wanted an el Camino, that's what I would have bought.

HA!

I think raising them does defeat the purpose of having them... although I guess it would look nicer.

Thats why I have them, because my wife says she can't get in the truck without them. Figured if I lifted them, and didn't tell her I might get a better look from the truck.

LOL!

Only reason I have mine is to keep the paint on the body, this new body style with no rocker panels, rocks raise hell with the super thin paint.

Same here, though it doesnt seem to have done the job. Raising them up would jsut make the sport tubes wouldnt it?

I told my wife that my next truck would be higher than my present one...She told me that I had to have steps.

Sooo...I'll probably be buying the electric ones that fold down when you open the door. Those are pimp.
