285/70/17's With 1.5" Level

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have found someone who wants to trade me my stock rubber and rims for this 17's with 285/70/17's with MT's on it. I have a Pro Comp leveling kit....I have read here these have fit on some trucks with no lift and others with little to no lift via adjustable front struts. Other sites think it may be problematic...Anyone else have any experience here?

I have an 2008 GMC Sierra 4x4 Extended Cab.

Thanks in advance.

There was a guy awhile back running 285/70/17 Toyo a/t's with no leveling or only 1 step up on belsteins (I can't remember which one) and he was fine. So with a 1.5" i think you should be fine... If anything if it rubs at all it would only be a little plastic.

I think you may be talking about spurshot. He PM'ed me when I search and found found that other thread and sent him a question...he only lifted his truck 5/8" and is running Toyo AT's. He thought I should be fine too.

Just wanted to poll the group before I finalized the deal and drove to do the swap.

The input thus far is greatly appreciated!

ARE HIS WHEELS STOCK TOO?

(caps so you would see it)

i couldnt tell from your post whether the wheels you're getting are stock width and backspace or if they're aftermarket wheels and have a different width and backspace.

if they're stock, you should be OK with the 1.5" leveling kit. if they're aftermarket... we cant answer your question until you tell us what width & backspace they have...

Thanks for asking....I meant to inclue that in my post. Yes, his wheels are stock 17" GMC Z71 six spoke wheels.

Thanks again for the replies everyone. My truck is aligned now with the leveling kit....changing tires and rims shouldn't cause me to need this again should it?

you mean never needing an alignment ever again? yeah, you'll still need to get it done- i even consider it a maintenance thing. i get mine done every rotation, which is also every oil change (around 6000 miles).

No, I mean just because I changed tires and rims...just had mine done not too long ago and didn't know if the change would affect anything.

Thanks

Thanks for the help guys...drove to do the swap yesterday and it didn't work out. It was his extra car and his brother had driven it that week and scuffed up one of the rims almost to the center so it fell through.

I appreciate all the input...Hopefully someone else wanting to trade will surface.
