Pin 42 Activation On Ecu

I have a 2003 Denali XL and want to upgrade to the 05 Electric Fans. How do I know if my ECU will support this upgrade (activating pin 42) before I go forward with this. Can I tell by looking at it (or the harness) or do I need to have the dealer plug into it to see if it has this ability?

the dealer would be of no help, this is completely custom

 

your 2003 PCM is capable of handling it, but it will need a tune and it will need the proper harness with Pin 42 to be inserted to the PCM harness. as of right now Pin 42 is empty.

 

I have done this mod from the tuning side, to the fan and harness install.

I'm located in Omaha NE. I've located a set of the fans in a local salvage yard and would try to get the factory harness with it. When you say I need a tune in my PCM, do you mean that I would have to send it out to PCM4less or someone like that, or is the program in there and just needs to be activated with a capable scan tool? I can handle inserting the pin in the harness etc.
