I have a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 08 GMC 2500HD Extended, 6.5 box, Duramax, Leer Canopy. The truck does not carry loads or do any towing other than a 3500LB single axle trailer. Virtually no off road.

The tires have only 25K on them and only have 3/32nds left. They have been rotated and balanced every 5K miles by America Tires in Gresham, Oregon. The wear has

been even for all tires with no allignment issues, etc. This has got to be the poorest wearing tires I have ever bought in the last 40 years! They also not not carry any factory wear guarantee.

USE AT OWN RISK FOR TIRE WEAR!!!

i have the exact same tire on a 1500 and they have 20,000 on them and you can barely notice they are worn. i run mine at 35lbs

The main reason that I chose the Terra Grapplers (even with the lightning bolts, Matt :( ) is because I liked the look and a couple of guys at work have them and love them. One of the guys is just over 50K miles and they don't look much worse than the picture above. The other guy is just shy of 20K and his looks almost as nice as mine that I just installed!

However...mine and the other two here at work are 1500s. I did read during my research that the 2500 and 3500 series trucks had more issues with tread wear on the Terra Grapplers. I also read that many 1500 series trucks were jacking their tire pressure up to 60 psi, because they thought they had to with the E rated tires, and complaining about the ride and wear issues. I have been running mine at 40 psi with no problems.....SO FAR!!!

i'd go down on the pressure just a bit. you can see on mine that it's not really wearing flat all the way acrossat 35 lbs. i'll probably go down to 32lbs

Half ton trucks weigh much less than an HD with a diesel. The Terra Grapplers in 285-70-17 Load E on a diesel will get no more than 30K. Mine are at 3/32nds at 25k.

So in reality, the tires aren't junk, just the combination of a heavy vehicle and these tires is a bad idea?

I've seen lots of Terra Grapplers with 40+K miles on them and they look great. But they are all on 1500's.
