Hii

Ive got a 2010 gmc z71 rc, and every time i refuel the car, it tends to shake and it's very noticeable and the rpm goes up and down a bit.

i talked to the dealership, and he said that i have to switch of the car during refueling.

Does anyone have the same problem?

and whats the reason for this?

Are you saying your letting your engine run while fueling up? Thats very dangerous, illegal and can set a code. Also do not top off your tank let the gas nozzle do it and don't try to force more fuel in as that will destroy the vapor canister and vent valve. The poor running is caused by a flooded vapor canister and instead of fuel vapors in the canister you have raw gas in it.

Really...who knew...

You've only had to do that for the past 20 years....I can see where your confusion is coming from

Last time I did that was with an old beater that I had to bump start with the clutch...LOL. we paid 25 bucks for the damn thing and were driving it back to the shop for a parts car....Oddly enough, the guy that was selling this car for 25 bucks didn't have any fuel in it...weird I know :(:D:thumbs:

Start it and leave it running till I got where I was going.:lol::lol:

Every now and then, a post comes along that you just shake your head and move on......

Oh so true. LOL!

One thing here though uae, it should start running beautifully again once the truck catches on fire and knocks those fuel vapors down to an acceptable level for your computer to deal with. This is only a theory though, so PLEASE let us know what actually happens and pay close attention to the truck as long as you can before y'all have to un-ass the entire city block!

(Just kiddin' ya' a little, but not really. Shut the dang thing off when you refuel it.)

What kind of idiot leaves their truck running while refueling?

The rough idle could be being caused by the open fuel system (which is supposed to be sealed). The truck isn't designed to be run with the cap off and emission controls become more and more sensitive to this yearly.

Shut the truck off when refueling and don;t be a dumbass.

do you smoke and talk on your cell phone while pumping too? lol i'm j/k everybody has those moments man...i see alot of diesels idle while fueling...

And you call yourself a 'tech'. Who better to make a reply than you?

Just maybe calm down with the 'immediate' name calling and ridicule. It wasn't your prescence, it was your personna!

Just MY opinion, of course and your milage may vary? You can certainly post what you want, how you want, it ain't my personal forum, but just keep in mind.....others will too!

He's actually one of the few Actual GM Techs on this site.

And a good one too....just cause some of his opinions are "unpopular" doesn't mean anything.

And when you spend years in a shop seeing all the dumb things people do to they're vehicles...your gonna have a slightly unpopular opinion of people and they're "Common" sense.
