bossier62guy Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Will running with a faulty evap canister decrease fuel mileage or harm my engine? To answer the question you asked....I don't think it's going to affect your mileage. Now if the purge solenoid isn't working properly that's a different story altogether. What do you mean by a faulty evap canister?
Xi Bowhunter Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 I am trying to get it taken care of, but I am no mechanic and I have run into a tight financial spot right now. Here is the error codes I got a while back, but I am going to take it over again today and get the codes re-read: You tell me what you think the problem is according to the print-out. It isn't the gas cap because it has been replaced.

Here is the error codes I got a while back, but I am going to take it over again today and get the codes re-read: You tell me what you think the problem is according to the print-out. It isn't the gas cap because it has been replaced. One code is pointing at a leak in the evaporative emissions system, the other towards a faulty vent valve. The gas cap could have set off the P0455 code. Have the codes cleared, drive it until your check engine light comes back on and have them read again. There is a lot of info on the site regarding these codes.
rmck490 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Did you replace the gas cap with an OEM part or an off-the-shelf type? Just a thought but I've heard of people having problems with the generic off-the-shelf types. I'd stick with OEM if it were me.

It wouldn't surprise me if they don't make the OEM parts.
bossier62guy Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 We need DTC Codes not definitions.... Jbo Look at the receipts a little closer....they are there.
