macguy Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I have a squeeking noise over rough roads that dealer cannot find. Could this be a bad ball joint or hub?
jro909 Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 could be the rubber they put under the cab and between the frame squeeking...

gmtech4 Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 take it to another dealer and road test it with a tech or shop forman,DONOT let them blow you off,if they still blow you off ,call the District Serive Manager(DSM) and tell him you're pissed!!!you will get satisfaction. if you tell them to do something ,you will pay for it
Diesail Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Do you hear it while going slowing? If so it is most likely the door seals. It is the outer seel that makes the noise. Spray it with some silicone and see if it goes away. If it does there is a TSB about using a 3M anti-squeak tape on the doors.

If window is wide open I hear it at up to 10mph on rough surfaces.
danjr80 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Sorry to hijack, Diesail, do you have any info about the tsb you are talking about? I do have squeaking doors and its irritating. Back on topic sorry.
pm26 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Have you added nerf bars or side steps to the truck? Frequently squeaks like these develop after body mount bolts are removed and reinstalled. They use some kind of sealant on the threads at the factory.

Another test, I performed is driving a few feet at under 5mph and stepping hard on brakes, same noise coming from front end.
Matt_ Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 with your truck parked, rock your front tire forward and backward... get the truck rocking pretty good to see if you hear the squeak. If you do... go to the store and spend $10 for a mechanics stethoscope. Have someone rock the truck back and forth while you use the stethoscope to find the origin of the noise. We can sit here and name 100 different things that could cause that noise.. but that won't get you anywhere. You need to find out where it's coming from.

I sprayed silicone on front yellow polyurathane jounce bumpers and stabilizer bar bushings. So far no noise.
Erichcb Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I had the same thing and the dealer couldent figure what it was...until the third time I took it back....it ended up being that the there were some loose parts ( Bolts & nuts) in in the front suspension. Do u have a leveling kit on your truck ?
