Just as the title says, my step-daughter was backing out of the garage tonight and bumped the mirror on my truck. :mad: No noticable damage to anyone but me of course - although there is a good size scuff on the plastic now. The good thing is that I happened to be walking up the driveway after moving my husband car and noticed that she was about to do even more damage so I was able to stop her in time but the bad thing is that she didn't even say sorry. Needless to say her father got a bit of an earful from me and she eventually apologized. But man am I ever upset about it.

 

Maybe I'll just have to colourmatch now, really it is the ONLY solution. I knew giving her the old van would be a mistake. :sigh:

I know how that feels, it is even worse when you do it yourself. When I first bought it, I broke my mirror reversing out of my driveway. My mirror hit the side of the gate and it broke. I found a replacement for it on ebay, exact same mirror. Yeah, you should make the best of out this and upgrade your mirrors.

ah god i feel your pain, i once had a girl back down a small ditch then up it across 4 empty parking stalls(in a lot) into the side of my truck then she drove away without even leaving a note...i dident even notice the dent until i was on the highway hearing the grinding from the mudflap being bent into the tread on the tire from the collision...

Unless it scratched through the paint, you should be able to remove it by wetsanding and/or polishing.

 

 

I don't have painted mirrors, they are just the black plastic. I'm thinking it will be the perfect excuse to colourmatch them for sure.

lol...I thought about colormatching mine, but then I thought "no...Because then I'll have to clean them more" :lol:

I know what you are talking about too. There also is the idiots in parking lots that slam there door against your vehicle or do a hit and run. One time I saw a women ram a shopping cart out the way to get into a parking spot.

Some people are just messed up. I was saying to my husband the other day that I know the perfect job for me. I would get paid, by insurance companies or something, to drive around and follow people, when I would witness someone driving like an idiot then I would folow them, ask them to hand over their license and inform them they are not fit to drive and please start taking the bus....

Ah! This brings back memories. My brother rear ended my dad when he bought his first car. It was awesome to watch because I knew he was going to get in trouble, but the bad part was that I inherited the truck he hit. That was well over 20 years ago, so it's funny now, but wasn't back then.

Like Everyone has said on here, this is actually the perfect excuse to Colormatch or Chrome your Mirrors, then the Modbug gets under your skin, and then you can't stop modding until you have at least Half of the Value of the Truck in Mods! :lol:

You gave her the 'old van'. Now she bumps your mirror and doesn't apologize until you talk to her father. Hmmm, kids today. Manners are lacking. Definitely make him pay for the new mirror covers. Maybe then he will talk to her about manners. (Or teach her how to back up using mirrors)

haha, i do this. well, i dont ram it, i just nudge it so i fit in the spot (and then proceed to put it into the cart corral) and only when there arent any cars around.

      Hi,   I work a steep boat landing that has patchy blacktop going down the hill and soft sand/gravel at the bottom. Due to low water levels, it's not always possible reach the blacktop. I've had to help several people get out this year already and with fall coming, I'm anticipating more. I always use 4L. There was a gentleman there today with a 2500 HD (actually 2 - him and his son both have them) and they were trying to get his son's wake boat out. This gentleman swears that you should use 4H in the soft gravel. Says he was a farmer and you always use higher gear when stuck. I was wonder what your thoughts on this are? If I'm wrong, it would be good to find out before things get busy.

      Looking for feedback from users of roll up aluminum slat bed covers who have had it for more than 3 years. I prefer the aluminum slat style over supported vinyl covers due to security and the capacity to support a light load. The slight loss of bed opening when rolled up is not an issue. Presently have BAK Revolver the "industrial grade vinyl overlay" on mine is shrinking & coming loose at the rear and on both sides in addition to cracking at some of the folding joints. Truck lives outdoors in NC latitude. Can't justify the steep price to replace it with another one if that's the expected lifespan. Do you have a better alternative?

      Thanks, your last sentence is the root of my problem, outdoors truck and southern latitude = UV overload. Looking at replacing with Rough Country powder coated aluminum slat roll up model.

      I’m looking at putting a lift in my 2024 gmc sierra 1500 elevation trim, has anyone had any luck with fitting a bigger tire under the rear for a spare?? Was gonna go with a 4 inch zone lift Also what wheel and tire size setup are you all running? Wondering if I can get away with keeping around the stock size a 33 inch, and just get some new wheels to have enough back spacing then I can just keep my original spare tire I have under the truck now.
