Gm Goodwrench Tools

Changed oil on a friend's car here the other day and used the hoist at the shop I worked at in high school. And used his set of GM Goodwrench Wrenches. Very nice...and forgot GM made these. But does anyone know what company makes them for GM as I would assume someone does? (Craftsman, Matco, etc.). Most websites where i found them says they come with a lifetime warranty. And does anyone here have any, and how do you like them?

Yeah everywhere i have looked I can't really find any info on them who makes them. Really not even a place where GM lists them for sale to order from either? I could only find one place that carried them. Can you buy them from local dealers?

Kragen's sells GM Goodwrech wrenches and a small socket set. (Checker, Schucks, Murray's, and O'reilly for other parts of the U.S.)

That's a source for their "official" dealer specialty tools, the Goodwrench-branded tools (much like the AC Delco tools they used to or may still sell) are just mass produced by some budget tool manufacturer.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out they're closely related to the Pittsburgh tools that Harbor Frieght sells, honestly (which also are lifetime warranted).

I just wish they had a nice catalog or something they put out so you could look them up easily and get what you want. No big deal though, thanks for the answers/help!

They are contract items. Be the low bidder & you can stick the GM/ACDelco logo on your tools for the duration of the contract.

Hmm...sounds like a bad thing. Unless they only let the good tool makers bid the contracts each time.

Considering where they source some of the parts for some of their vehicles, what do you think?

I've got one of their kits that I keep in the bed of the truck in case I need a wrench or socket. I haven't really beat on them much so I can't vouch for the quality of the tool but they sure look nice.

Exactly...I LOVE the look of them...and I sure like working with them. Where did you get yours?

I've got a AC Delco 2 1/4 ton jack. Chrome plated, has the purty AC Delco logos and everything. About the same design as the other cheap jacks Wal-Mart sells. Sears has Delco jacks right now, slightly different design from mine (bought years ago) which reaffirms my belief that they are just low-bid contracts.

As for the tools, Ollies Discount Outlet had a bunch of socket and wrench sets a few years ago. If I still earned my living turning wrenches I probably wouldn't go for them, since a big box store brand (Craftsman, Kobalt, etc) is easier to exchange for warranty. For something to keep in the truck or use occasionally at home, they look nice enough.
