Pull the bed or drop the tank?

99 silvy ext cab

 

Dealer put the computer on my silvy and told me that the pump is down to 12psi. I can get some people to help me pull the bed off so that isn't a problem.

Pull the box is easier since you dont have to lift the gas & tank and your just looking down at the tank to remove the pump. Just takes 3 people to lift box back a bit.

Bed is safest/easiest imho especially if you live in the rust belt

I removed the bed when I replaced the fuel pump on my 99 Silverado. The bed bolts were rusted some and one snapped but it was still easier then dropping the tank. Once the bed was off it took just a few minutes to replace the pump and have it ready for the bed to go back on.
