Anyone have any experience with this?

TPMS Tool

Tired of fighting with the GM system to re-learn on its own...already wasted way too much time.

Looking for one that will work on the truck, as well as the wife's Toyota...

i work in a shop that sells wheels and tires, and honestly... i usually just do it the manual way, half of those tools are junk, i have a scanner that can go in and learn them, (really expensive snap on scanner) but the manual way is just always quicker...

Thanks for the info...maybe this weekend I'll try again, but I've tried at least a dozen times, never got past the third (passenger rear) tire without running out of time...short of pulling the valve out of the tire stem, don't have many ways left to try...

I have had the best luck with this method, it got me 2 out of 4 tires, but I did read to drive the truck, then do it as soon as you stop, any truth to that?

TPMS Tool I bought from Tire Rack...

Just an update for others that have the same issue...I bought the above from Tire Rack, as let me tell you does it work slick.

Just put the truck into "learn mode" as you normally do by holding both buttons on the key fob, put this tool beside the tire valve on the tire required, press and hold the left button, and the horn chirps right away...10 out of 10 for sure...

I just ordered a reset/test tool off of ebay for about $70. I've seen it other places for about $100 and I thought I'd give it a try.

But, I was having trouble resetting my system after a tire rotation this week and I was using the tire fill station at Costco. I had tried about 7-8 times to use the manual calibration, which I had used successfully several times about a year ago, but couldn't get the 4th tire to chirp the horn. So, I drove across the parking lot to the tire store at Costco and asked if they reset TPMS. Turns out they have a Bartec 400 and reset the system for $4. That's right...$4. BTW, the Costco tire tech couldn't get the manual method to work on the 4th tire either.

GM's TPM tool is JUNK! You have to put new batteries in it every other day. Thing doesn't work half the time. If my truck had sensors( and I'm glad is does NOT) I would not relearn them every time I rotated the tires. Do you really need to know which tire is low? Can you not get your ass outta the truck and look? Seriously? You should check tire pressure once a month anyhow. :)

With an LTZ with the full DIC, checking tire pressure is just a couple seconds worth of work. You can do it anytime you're driving as well. Frankly, I think it's one of the better things I like about the features on my truck. I sure as heck don't need the power folding mirrors, heated mirrors, heated washer fluid, childproof doorlock setting, rear radio, dimming rearview mirrors, tilting mirrors for reverse or lots of other crap I paid for.

With TPMS, I check my tire pressure probably several times a week or more.

Got it yesterday and tried it out just now. It works quickly and easily. The tool only activates the sensor and indicates when it recieves a signal. A very simple tool

You still have to initiate the re-learn process per the owner manual, by turning the ignition to ON, pushing both buttons on the remote, but when it chirps the horn twice, just go around with the tool near each stem and push the "activate" button and you'll get the horn chirp, then onto the next tire. Very quick and no air bleeding and refilling required. Takes about a minute to do the whole re-learn with the tool.
