2003 yukon xl 5.7 liter v8 vortec. Had to remove the belt that feeds the a/c due to the fact that it about started on fire. It was smoking and squeeling.....I believe it froze up. Any ideas of what might have happened, what it is (condensor?) and what to do to fix it? I have heard that it might be the bearing, is that replaceable or does the whole unit need replacing? Any suggestions greatly appreciated

It sounds like your A/C compressor locked up and will need to be replaced. If that is the case, the system will need to be flushed as well to remove any particles or contaminants from the A/C system before being recharged.
