I saw a gmc w/quadrasteer today and I got wondering about how they have held up. Has anyone had issues? Or arew they still goin strong?

I looked at a ~03 Suburban 2500 4wd w/ QS recently and did the same search. From what I gathered, they have been very reliable and durable.

One of my buddies has one. It is an 03 1500 with close to 80,000 miles on it and has had zero issues with it. Leaves it in 2 wheel steer unless he needs the 4 wheel steer. Definitely been very reliable for him.

Buddy of mine has an 02 Denali QSteer with 80k+ on the clock, he leaves his truck in 4 wheel steer all the time. Truck drives beautifully, just like it did new. Only prob was a ground at the control module, GM issued a bulletin to repair the ground, no more prob.

Only prob I have seen with them repeatedly was folks backing boats in the ocean. Salt water kills the actuators and then it gets really expensive.

i know of a farmer who has 2 of them a 2002 with 85k and a 2004 with 160k.... both sierra denali's, and he has never had a single problem with quadrasteer... i test drove one of them.. its a really cool system if you have never driven one, drive one. my opinion about quadrasteer completlety changed after i drove one

it's a great system, the only reason it went away as an option was it was a cost prohibitive option at $5,000

I agree. GM did drop the price to ~$2k try to gain acceptance, but they spent a lot of time and $$ to develop it, and $2k was actually a bargain considering the quality/durability of components. Folks still didn't buy them much, but it is a very solid design. It uses a Dana 60 axle at the rear, w/ torque specs similar to the 2500HD trucks. Fail safe mode is "straight forward", so a "failed" system drives the same as a solid axle.

I have a 2004 with 85,000 miles. It's been in 4 wheel steer since day one and I have never had a problem.

I had to beg my dealer to order it for me. He told me it was too expensive of an option. Doh! Best choice I ever made.

I'm loving mine. I've only had it for a couple of months now, but it's got over 93K on the clock.

Only a mere $8k up here in Canada! Hard to get customers on board for "improved steering".

I'd love to see it on my 08 SD though. With the AWD, it seems to take a 1/4 section to "bring her around...."

I had a 03 sierra that I sold in 06 and I regret it everyday! I really miss that 20% reduction to the turning radius! Also, miss the stability on the high way while trailering my enclosed snowmobile trailer.
