I have 1999 chevy silverado 1500 5.3L, Ac compressor work it's full with r134a ac line are cold. no cold blow hot air.

 

What could be wrong.

Have you tested if it's getting 12v at the compressor clutch? If it's not, it's either a bad fuse or pressure switch.

How do I go about testing this? do I pull the plug off the ac compressor put volt meater in it see what it says?

Pull the plug off the compressor and put it in a convenient spot(away from the belt or any other moving parts). Then crank the truck up and turn the A/c on (make sure the a/c button is lit up). Then get under there with the tester and check the voltage at the plug. If you find voltage, make sure it's making good contact with the compressor terminals, if it is then the compressor clutch might be bad. If there's not voltage to be found there, and you're sure you've checked it really well, then there might be a bad fuse, pressure switch, or wire somewhere.

I hooked up the volt meater to the ac connector made sure it was good. it read 14.10 14.13 volts

What does this mean?

 

 

Huh, that means your a/c compressor should be coming on. Does the compressor clutch kick in when you turn the a/c on? If it doesn't, plug it back up and then get under there while it's on and running and bump the front of the clutch on the compressor with a hammer. But, be careful around the moving parts and belt. Make sure the plug is making good contact with the terminals on the clutch also.

If you turn the key on and listen really good, do you hear the air blend door move when you turn it from hot and cold? Also when you turn it from head to feat to defroster?

I don't see what could be wrong if the blend doors work, the compressor is kicking on, the a/c line and dryer are cold(almost freezing), and it's full of freon(r134). Are you sure it's full of freon, did you cros the wires on the pressure switch when you filled it with freon?

What do you mean by cros the wires on the pressure switch? Where is located?

Pressure switch is typically located on the receiver-dryer/accumulator.

When you hook up the gauges to the low and high pressure valves and run the engine, what readings do you get in psi? For a properly charged system, the low side should be around 35-40 psi and the high side at 250-300 psi.

Low side is 40 45 As of hi side no idea, I don't have a con that will fit on hi side.

 

Could the ac pressure switch be bad? if so how do I know where is it at have any pics that show where it is.
