2004 Silveardo Z71 Leveling Kit Questions

Hey guys, I'm new here, but I think I found my home away from homes. I've always been a truck kid. I'm a active member over at GMI, which is how I found out about this forum.

 

Anyway, I bought my truck just under a year ago. After seeing it for the first time, I fell in love, and have put some mods on it. I'm looking at upgrading the rims and rubber (summer set.) Anyway, I'm looking at a leveling kit. I've been researching on here about the Rough Country 2.5 leveling kit. I just want to make sure I'm looking at the right thing for me. I want to be able to clear 285's lock to lock. So with that said, If I buy the kit, I'm probably going to buy the shocks that are offered as I just rolled over 75,000 miles tonight (time to replace them!) Anyway I 'm just looking for more input. Also did anyone purchase it from a specific site with a great price and decent shipping costs?

 

 

Anyway at some point I'll be getting the rims I've had my heart set on since I could drive. American Racing Nitro (16"x8") Chrome 6 rims.

I'm not a fan of leveling keys. All they do is allow you to crank them more than the stock keys, which is not really a good thing. I put a set on my 03 1500 HD for a day and the ride was unbearable. IMO just crank your stock keys and save your money. Also, I had a set of RC shocks on my current truck and they were terrible.

Yeah just crank the stock keys enough to clear them and after I cranked my keys after 10k my shocks were gone and they were gone before that Im sure. I got some shocks off of eldebrock online store and another guy that I found these shocks from said there made by OffRoad Unlimited and got them for 104 shipped for all four, there just like an 1.5 longer maybe.

Cranking the 'ole t-bars..... now THAT was a bad decision. I hated the ride and had to return to stock height. The truck will ride hard and, like mine, may have the power steering gear start to leak due to the increased strain on the steerng components (not to mention your ball joints and CV angles.)

installed leveling kit on mine, not a big fan of how it ride now anyway I ordered new shocks today so hopefully it will be better. I will leave it on anyway but if I was gonna do it all over I would have gone with suspension lift even if i'm on budget which i was and went the "cheap" way, look good tho

 

go with a 2" body lift before the leveling kit... Just my .02 cents
