Tpms Vehicle Specific ?

I am pricing out a set of 20" wheels/tires/sensors thru Discount Tire for my 2010 LTZ Crew 1500. I would then sell my factory 18" combo complete. Salesman told me the sensors were "vehicle specific" and would cost $250 for new sensors (from DT) which would have to be reprogrammed by the dealer. If I kept my sensors they would charge $7 apiece to "rebuild" as the rubber in the valve stem gets ruined when removing. Is this correct? Seems like a pain in the a$$. I bought a set of wheels/tires/sensors for my 06 Vette and just had to "relearn" the sensors, took 2 minutes at DT and was free (no dealer involved). These were on a Vette previously, maybe that's the difference. :ughdance:

Buy a set off ebay for $65 shipped with new stems. Have them put in and you're set.

They dont even need to reprogram them... you can do it via the instructions in your owners manual.

I have a set from a 2010 on my 2007 and they work perfectly. Doesn't appear that anything has changed.

You can transfer you tpm sensors by picking up a set of valve stems from the dealership they are around 7 bucks a piece. All you have to do is remove the screw from the sensor on the old wheels and then reinstall them on the new wheels.

Thanks for the link, just bought them. Now I can sell my 18" wheels/tires complete without breaking them down. :ughdance:
