Engine "popping"

While driving I hear a "pop" almost like a backfire. However it's not consistent. Sometimes when accelerating slowly, but mostly when letting off the accelerator.

 

Currently have the check engine light on. Have had the codes read and it's P0496 - Evap Flow during a non-purge condition.

Fix the P0496 code, and see if the popping goes away....

Fixed the problem that was causing the engine light, still hear the popping.

heat shields? Does it happen when the truck is off and parked?

No only when moving.

Mass Air Flow Sensor, thats the thing wuth wirtes pluged into it right next to the air filter box (in the air tube)

UPDATE!!!!

 

Had all the software updated. Noise stopped. Runs tremendously better. MPG's up!
