2003 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty

Well, I was going to this small town today for work when I saw this area fenced off.  Inside this area were around 100+ 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 4 door SLT shortbed 4x4's.  All of them were jet black.  At first I thought it was a huge fleet order, then I noticed all of them were decked out. I later found out that they are all going down the road to a huge area and Dodge has all of the dealers in the NE going to this.  I guess they are going to do a demo for the dealers....

At this point I figured I would get a closer look at them.... I drove up to this area and instantly got goose bumps.  The first thing I saw was this little badge on the front fender that said "HEMI Powered".  ALL 100+ trucks had HEMI's in them....

If I go back this week, I'll take my camera and get some pics...

seen a blue one this weekend in a labor day parade

There is nothing special other than the hemi badge on the front fender.  They look exactly like the 1500s (UGLY)

Actually the ones I saw sat up a good 2-3" higher than the 1500 models...you could also clearly see the SFA instead of the IFS on the 1500.  These are the two things that tipped me off that they were 2500 series trucks.

Either way, I think they look alot better than the 1/2 tons...

You wouldnt want the one i seen then.  It sounded bad.  Honestly it was knocking pretty bad where i could here it from the sidewalk while watching the parade.  It was hauling 16-18ft trailer (float).  Also there was a 1500 ram behind it and no way did it sit up 2-3 inches higher.  They were both 4x4s too

Also the fronts looked identical.

Just get the 8.1 it is a simi-hemi, always has been always will be.  I had much rather have half hemi as a whole one if you know what I mean.

Well, I hope I get some pic's this week.  The (100+) 2500's that I saw, EASILY sat 2-3" higher.  I'll see if I can get some pics & show you a comparison of the heavy duty's I saw....

Here is a picture from the main page of pickuptruck.com.

If you ask me, the HD's DO sit up a couple inches higher than the 1500's...

This isn't the Hemi of years past.  This is basically a carbon copy of the LS1 and Vortec engines with a Hemispherical combustion chamber which nowadays isn't all uncommon in the industry.

My truck has an internal combustion engine.  The NASA spaceships have internal combustion engines.  I don't see a nameplate making a huge difference.  Plus B&D enterprizes pulls for us and they have a hemi.  These are all Dodge boys.  Their comments are "Well is a alright truck if you don't want to pull a whole lot" and "At 70mph the truck has good power, but getting out of the hole it has trouble get out of it's own smoke.

Well I've been a chevy fan for a very long time.My first auto ever was a 60 model apachee stepside shortbed w/slant 6 & posi still have it ,still runs... I've owned a lot of vehicles over the last 25 years All american :)  But 1,a 56 panhard {french} DYNA!!! But anyway ... I've never bought a BRAND NEW vehicle my whole life ... till now..My partner and I recently decided to change that so we started researching every thing about anything with 4 wheels ...4 long months and bookoo test drives including chevy dodge gmc ford datsun nissan toyota and even houlden as well as jeep and so on.....  well...after countless hours days & weeks of deliberation we are the proud owners of a 2003 dodge 2500 4x4 laramie s/crew swb with the 5.7 auto.w/tow and locking diff. options. were set. she loves it and so do I. It felt like gm's 8100 powerwise... and rides like 1500 sierra just without the claustraphobic feel of gm's cramped cabin{up front} that is...  and oh yea 9.5" ground clearance , 8.5"shock travel. Weve already tried that out  :thumb: Gas milage-12c-16h .. for me 14c-17h for her.go figure lol I still love gm. but at 32,800.00 I needed the best bang for the buck...ya know? :)  :D  :D
