Factory Lug Size?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I replaced my 2010 Silverado factory 17" aluminum wheels with a set of 20" factory GMC aluminum wheels. I believe the wheels I installed are from a Yukon (2008?).

The wheels I removed had open-ended lugs. These lugs have external threads for the black plastic "lugs" on the center-caps to thread onto.

The Yukon wheels have small center-caps which do not cover the lugs. I had to secure the wheels using the stock lugs for the time being.

I know the thread pitch is 14mm x 1.5 but what size socket is used on the factory lug (I'm traveling so I can't simply check for myself)? I need to order a set of aftermarket lugs for the Yukon wheels but I want to make sure they are the same size as stock to ensure the factory lug wrench will fit. I don't want to find out the hard way that I can't remove a flat! I've seen both 3/4" and 13/16".

TIA.

On closer look, those are regular cone seats.

Don't factory style aluminum wheels require "bulge" seats?

page 33 of the fitment guide on that amazon page shows those nuts fitting the 08 Yukon XL 1500, and page 34 shows 08 Yukon All.

I've emailed McGard to see if they can clarify. They haven't yet replied.

The wheels I bought look like these:

Bumping my own old thread. I've been driving around for nearly a year with the factory open-ended lugs that were meant to be covered by a center cap. I want to replace them with closed-end lugs (I have factory 20" aluminum GMC Yukon wheels on my Silverado).

I want to be able to use my factory lug wrench, which is 22mm (14mm 1.5 lug). Why is it that I can't find any bulge acorn closed-end lugs in 22mm? Everything I find is either 13/16" or 7/8".

Surely someone here has found lug nuts that are an exact fit for the factory lug wrench???

Wheels look like the one in the attached image.

TIA.
