Cat Back System

hey yall i have a 2006 sierra 1500hd 6L 4.10 gears and i installed a magnaflow cat back system on it last week. The truck sounds great and all but the dam truck is even more slugish now then it was before. Just woudering if yall had any ideals or its just in my head. Thanks

did you go to big with the exhaust for just a 6.0 i would think 2 1/2" would be plenty VS 3"..

also change your fuel filter, and what about the intake... you have more air going out faster, so it would help to have more air IN faster.

ya i went with the single swept side 4" #15782. And i still got the original intake system cuz i do alot of gravel road in dusty conditions, so i like the ideal of staying with the paper filter. I do have a Diablosport Preditor programmer for it witch im still playing around with. Ill will check into changing the fuel filter i no it is in the tank so im not to sure if it is changeble. Thanks alot every bit of info helps.

Theres some qaulity intakes out there that use a dry filter, the advantage to the blackbear tune is he can repair and adjust things that no hand held can even come close to doing.. trust me. in person tune is the way to go

What kind of mileage increase did you get Yukon?

also change your fuel filter,

going DI 3" SO 4" is def. to big with a Magnaflow muffler. if you were FI or a lot of bolt ons you might be good. most cat backs with a free flowing muffler stay at 2.50" due to complaints of loss of power. the stock 2.75" duel pipes work well ON A STOCK restricted muffler..

The filter is on the inside on the DS frame rail. As for feeling sluggish after the cat back system install, could be from going to a different deisgn, whether it be too small or too big. Under 4" is fine with 6.0. Do you know if your cat back has mandrel bends that are consistant? I noticed an increase in power after 2 mins of driving my truck after the cat back was put on, and even better after I decided to get it welded up. Your OEM intake system is a high flow flitration unit, I wouldn't mess with it.

I have an 2002 1500hd with the exact same magnaflow exhaust. I did not notice any loss of power nor gain of power. I just got a live blackbear tune last week and it did help out with power. Also you might want to consider cleaning your MAF sensor and Throttle body if you havent yet.

 

On a side note I really am not happy with the magnaflow exhuast it's a little louder than I expected on the drone side.

Do yall no if those blackbear tunes are avalible in canada. and ill clean out my MAF sensor i havent done that on this truck yet. Thanks guys!

not sure on the city/local mpg,s but i gained a solid 3-4 on the highway
