Help!

I have a 2002 1500 HD 4x4. It has about 150,000 miles on it maybe less. I recently started to use it again to tow my toy and it does not like it. When driving it feels like it just not want to do it. It struggles. Not sure if it is the road or not but the truck jerks when going down the road. Like i'm hitting small bumps in the road. the road looks smooth. I have changed the tranny and transfer case fluid, power steering fluid, and coolant. This truck used to pull like there was nothing behind it. I moved to Colorado about 3 years ago and on a recent trip to the mountains the whole truck heated up. Tranny and engine. I quickly pulled it over and unloaded the trailer and it was fine with nothing behind it. This is why i changed all the fluids. Now on small hills or grades it heats up and does not have the umph to get up the grade unless i hit the down hill side real hard and get a lot of momentum. I know i have a lot of original parts still on it and slowly have been replacing parts. Any ideas what to look at? Rebuild the tranny? new motor? weighing my options now to see if its worth keeping it and if it will tow my Jeep on the hills here in CO. :jester: thanks for your time.

Have you checked to see if you have the correct fuel pressure?

No but my fuel pump went about a month ago so i assume its all good. I felt a difference when i did the change.

Changed fuel pump, what about checking your fuel pressure regulator? Have check for codes being stored? Engine problems can make your trans act differently.

Check your condenser and radiator for external blockages. Checked your fan clutch? New thermostat? Have you removed the radiator and had it cleaned out? It may be partially plugged. A friend had Dakota that had an overheating problem. After checking everything else he had the radiator gone through. All is well now

Not to sound dumb but how do i check the regulator and what numbers should i see? Have not checked the codes so will do that. Just had the radiator flushed, should i still take it apart? I never did the thermostat so will start there.
