Did I Hurt My '08 6.0l 6/speed Auto?

I admit, did something stupid to my 100% stock truck the other day. Anyway I have the automatic with the +/- controls on the shift lever. I remember when I bought the truck the salesman explained that I could drive the truck like a manual if I choose and it would not hurt the truck. Well I've never really played with the feature until the other day. I had roughly 800-1000 lbs in my box so I was fairly heavy as far as payload goes. I was at a stop sign that throws you onto the highway with little time or room to get on the highway so I thought I would select the gears manually starting with 1st from a dead stop. What I did wrong was a mashed the gas and didn't expect the acceleration would be or feel faster than when you just leave it in drive. Anyway the tach went as far as it can go (theres no redline on the GMT900 gauge) but anyway it hit the rev-limiter before the trans could shift to 2nd gear. I swear I selected the next gear about half way, I timed this because there is almost a 1/2 second delay from hitting the button to when the transmission actually selects the gear. Anyway I've never revved the truck that high, when you just mash the gas in drive it shits at about 5K so it won't damage anything. Do you guys think I hurt the truck? I'm worried because I really need this truck to last a long time, it's got 21K miles on it right now. Thanks in advance

You're fine. If it was bad for the truck to do that, they would've already over-engineered it. Where it hits the limiter is the "safe zone" for the motor. These trucks will take some beating.

TRADE IT NOW!!!!

joking, didnt hurt it at all, common misconception, kinda like towing with the engine about 3500 rpm. My fater in law does it all day with his 08WT and he has over 150K+ on it now....yes 150K! He had 100K on it when i bout my '09 last July.
