Planning for a new ride

My son's S-10 will likely disappear this winter when he gets his base assignment.  (Either that or his younger brother will adopt it.)  So, I'm starting to think about a second vehicle to split the miles with my Av.  I want something low, sporty, rwd, GM, and able to hold a folded wheelchair.  The F-body is gone and I hate the interior of the CTS.  That leaves a vette or waiting for an SSR.  This is going to be a fun decision.  Which would you choose assuming you could afford either?

Having a father with a 2000 Convertable vette, and being an owner of a 95 Corvette coupe, i say GET THE VETTE!

The SSR i'm afriad will be more show than go, but the vette can perform and still be driven daily. A truely impressive car. :thumb:

What about one of the new "Holden" cars coming in from Australia?  They will be RWD and packing some LS HP!!!!  I think they will be 4 door and available with a six speed if wanted...

Zane can probably help me out here because I don't remember the details...  but I believe the GTO will be one and then Chevy will get something too, basically to replace the Impala SS and to compete with the new Mercury marauder.

This is a RWD 5.7L LS1 that is currently available in Australia and should be coming our way soon...  (fingers crossed)

Good ideas.  My wife loves the SSR.  (Go figure, she hates most trucks)  But, given the very limited availability of the SSR and the timeframe of the GTO, I think we may have to "settle for" a vette next spring.  (What a shame)  My wife's chair will fit in the coupe - we just can't store the hardtop back there at the same time and I'll have to find / install some tie-downs.  My only requirement is a 6-speed.  I'll have to decide between buying late model used or GMS new.

I am currently considering a weekend driver. Can't decide between new Vette or a 1st generation Camaro or a street rod. This car will be for weekends and as a way to keep me busy.

let me tell ya, don't test drive a vette unless you can buy it on the spot. Otherwise, you might have to steal it.
