Intake Gasket Failure Symptoms?

Looking for a list of symptoms for intake gasket failure on the throttle body...not talking the coolant intake gaskets...thanks in advance

on the truck in your signature?

if you had a gasket leak around the throttle body you would get high idle, no idle, running lean or running rough. That gasket failing would be extremely rare unless you've been messing around with it, it's a captured o-ring style IIRC, either way I know it's a re-usable gasket, so if you pulled it to check and it was fine you could simply reassemble without need for a new gasket.

what symptoms are you having?

and of course there is no such thing as a coolant issue with the intake manifold on a 5.3L, that's only applicable to the Gen II style motors.

clean the throttle body - unplug it, remove it and clean it thoroughly. I've seen this several time before, there most likely is carbon build upon the back side of the throttle blade that is causing it to stick.

Do you have or have you had an oiled air filter? if so grab a can of MAF sensor cleaner also and follow the instructions (don't touch the wires).

nope always used the ac delco oem filters....i'm just a little nerve racked at the moment with everybody on the core thread telling me that the intake gaskets are failing, i'll have the throttle body cleaned asap..would that cause this random effect though?

Choppy idle is ussually the bigest sign, up and down RPMs.

my idle is stable at 500ish rpms, this happening only seems to occur when moving

interesting, i have never cleaned the maf or the throttlebody so i'll get that done
