Airaid Mit

I ordered my Airaid MIT last night and it arrived this afternoon so I went ahead and installed it tonight. I was anxious to get the factory air tube off and look inside because I installed an Amsoil air filter last week after using the K&N panel filter for around 50,000 miles. I was curious to see if the inside was dirty at all. It was clean! Good to know but I still feel better about using the Amsoil filter. I finished up installing the MIT before taking my truck for a test drive. Total install time was about 30 minutes. It would have taken less but I had to remove and reinstall the new tube a couple times to adjust the adapter for the MAF before tightening everything up. I took my truck for a test drive and everything was great. Sounds good with my exhaust and I'm happy with the purchase.

Keep an eye on the clamp at the throttle body. I ran an Airaid tube for a while and the clamp kept coming loose. It would cause two codes, P171 and P174 lean on left and right banks. It did that twice in a year.

Thanks for the tip. Have you had anymore problems with it since? Or have you removed it?

I have been running a GMPP CAI for a while. No problems with it. You may not have any trouble with yours. The clamp on mine would not stay tight.

Yeah I'm happy with this decision. Much cheaper than a full intake and I spend time offroad and like the set up of the stock air box. I like that I can just blow the Amsoil filter out with shop air and drop it back in. Doesn't get much easier than that!

Did you put a conical filter in the stock airbox place?

So is the Amsoil air filter, supposed to flow more air than a stock air filter?

Amsoil claims it flows better than stock. But I replaced my K&N panel filter with the amsoil drop in filter and noticed no difference in performance or gas mileage so I think it is a fine air filter. It certainly has better filtration than the K&N. I'm not knocking the K&N, when I installed the MIT I inspected my factory tube and it was clean. But having the Amsoil filter instead still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
