oldschool327 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 We spent Labor day riding the quads at Pismo beach. This is our families favorite place and we are glad to be back on the west coast after missing this kind of riding for two years. The Sierra even spent a few hours cruising the dunes at 15 PSI and the boys had a blast! No better way to bring family together! All three bikes, Sons is being towed in for the second time in one day, Brother in law son son giving dad some pointers wife (she is the family clown) and her brother
JRLZ71 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Awesome! Looks like you guys had a blast. Can't wait to see the new look of your truck. Hurry up and get that stuff put on!

oldschool327 Posted September 8, 2010 Author Posted September 8, 2010 Awesome! Looks like you guys had a blast. Can't wait to see the new look of your truck. Hurry up and get that stuff put on! Yes it definately was a great time! If I get another weekend free then the BL and 295's will be on, along with your Mirrors Man that looks like alot of fun. I need to find a place around here where I can take me and the gf's Raptors. How close are you to Hatfield and McCoys? WV shouldnt be too far of a drive for you? Great place to stretch the legs and relax with your GF! Pismo is a 4 1/2 hour drive for us but not bad at all even pulling the trailer loaded. My wife just closes her eyes as we enter the beach area and opens them when we come to a stop. I have been going there for 5 years now and never got stuck. You would think she would take it ewasy on me by now..........Nope!
chakis24 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 /looks like a good time, a little too dry for me though. how fast do you guys get?
captainmorgan00 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Man that looks like alot of fun. I've been wanting to go to some dunes for a long time...but being on the east coast i'm not to sure were to go. I heard there were some in Michigan but don't know for sure.
oldschool327 Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 /looks like a good time, a little too dry for me though. how fast do you guys get? Depends on what you feel like. Enough space to run 60-70 (5th gear) on the Predator. There was a twin Turbo 454 sand rail there this weekend that could stand up with a little poke of the right pedal. Man that looks like alot of fun. I've been wanting to go to some dunes for a long time...but being on the east coast i'm not to sure were to go. I heard there were some in Michigan but don't know for sure. Silver Lake Michigan, hear it is a great place with plenty of "Scenery"!
captainmorgan00 Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Cool..That must be the place i heard about. I found a website about it and from the looks of it, its a state park. So that means rules and regulations. Is this the way the dunes are out your way
oldschool327 Posted September 9, 2010 Author Posted September 9, 2010 Pismo is a SVRA State Vehicle Recreation Area. I believe Silver Lake is the same set-up. Yes there are rules but they are very loose rules. As long as no drinking and riding/driving and the vehicles are registered no problems ever. These places are meant for a place to unwind legally and for the most part safely. Some rules I found for you and these are very relaxed if you ask me. No registration needed. Here are the things you MUST have: a Spark arrestor and the USFS stamp on the muffler..no exceptions. You have to have a flag that meets their requirements dont worry they sell them EVERYWHERE at Silver Lake. You dont have to have paddles but you WILL have more fun with them. Try to ride on Friday or during the week..if not you will have to get a voucher for parking..the Forest rangers will help you with directions on how to get a voucher..just ask them. When lining up for inspection(very informal) DO NOT rev your motors or pull wheelies..they WILL sound test you if you cause a scene or be obnoxious, and they WILL kick you out. If your worried about being a tad loud bring your stock can and bolt it on if you do get randomly sound tested and fail. They randomly check quads, bikes, buggies..about one or two an hour..if your worried about being loud then try to time it so some one else is getting checked..I only saw one vehicle at a time being checked..I'm at 102 db's and never had a problem..but again dont be an idiot and you shouldnt have a problem. DONT launch off the first dune..its a steep decline down the other side..most other dunes are ok to launch off from. Here is a link from the Polaris Riders website that has great Silver lake pics. If you use the search feature on that website and punch in Silver Lake multiple pages come up about it and how great it is. http://www.polarisriders.com/index.cfm?act...d=65880#p735084
captainmorgan00 Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Wow...Thanks alot for all the info. The exhaust is about the biggest problem for me. I would have to get a spark arrestor for both my bike and quad. Plus tires. But i would think it would be worth it. Even if i only get a chance to use them every once in a great while. I guess i'll have to see if I can get a few people together for a road trip next summer
