Well, here's the scoop.

I've met this guy at work, and he's got an '85 Silverado Shortbed 4x4, and he's sellin' it.

He put some lift on it, which he did himself.

Everything's new. Motor, Transmission, etc.

What do you guys think?

Of course the first question is how much :flag:

Second did he just put the lift on or did he put the motor and trans. in too? If so, would trust this guy to do this work on a truck that was already yours?

And third. How about some pics? :(

answers...

1. 5k

2. He said (I think) he did it all at relatively the same time, He knows more about trucks than I do, so that's good enough for me.

I'll try to ask him for pics.

Is he a certified mechanic?  If not, you'd best check out everything at the shop before you buy it.  Having your mechanic take it for a test drive never hurts

5K doesn't sound too bad for it.  what size motor?  350?

No it doesn't, considering he invested 11k in it.

And yes, It's a 350.

I trust him enough to believe he knew what he was doing when he did it (the lift).

Some dealerships will "check-out" a vehicle for you for a charge (usually one hour labor) if you don't have a mechanic friend that can look at it.

Just to be on the safe side I would get it checked out. I just sold my 98 Buick Centry to a friend. He took it and had it checked out first befor he bought it. I was glad that he was willing to do that. If something goes wrong in a couple of months, I would not want him comming back to me saying did you know about this and affecting the friendship.

Oh! get under there and check for leaks.  I've got two, sucks cause I don't wanna park in peoples driveways and get tranny fluid and oil all over their pavement.  I know I wouldn't want it on mine.  I don't understand the tranny fluid though, i replaced the seal and now its leaking again?  (front of rear driveshaft pluggin into transfercase)
