bravenrace Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Hey guys. I'm looking to improve my '00 Sierra 2500 a little. What I'm going after are reasonably priced performance mods that will not reduce cruising MPG. I'm thinking air intake, maybe an exhaust or just a muffler, and a tune. I'd like it to sound just a little more aggressive, but still pretty quiet. What say you? Thanks, Jim
Chris Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Corsa exhaust, K&n fipk, blackbear autocal. problem solved
700 sportsman Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I would say black bear for the tune for sure. Intake is all personal preference, I kinda like the GMPP intake. The exhaust is also preference, I'd go with either a corsa, magnaflow, or dynomax stainless system. or just a simple muffler swap from magnflow or dynomax. I have a magnaflow muffler with all stock pipe on my '96 with the 350 and I think it sounds good, not too loud overall, but definately noticeable when you get on it.
ken1mod Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Your best bucks will be spent on the tune. Other mods will be tough to notice except for the sound of the exhaust. I would tune for premium fuel. Fuel will cost more but you will burn less. Ken
Anthonyb Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 +1 on the custom tune, best performance increase for the least amount of $$. I have a tune by Nelson and love it, he is based in San Antonio TX which is where I live. Everyone on hear raves about Blackbear, you cant go worng with them. Had a flowmaster put on which cost as much as the tune. Sounds good, a little drone, but not near the performance increase as the tune.
bravenrace Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 Thanks for the tips, guys. Anyone know if any of the muffler makers above have a direct fit muffler for this truck? I looked on their websites but couldn't find one.
Chris Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 not really. a lil exhaust shop work, and you can get a single in single out flowmaster installed in the stock location and 3 inch all the way out to look stock. wont be but $230 or so
bmp5484 Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I went with flowmaster 40 series, blackbear tune, and the airaid jr intake system-about $100 less than the full airaid intake system, it replaces the intake tube and gives you the filter. My first step would be getting the Blackbear tune-best $ for $ mod I've done to my truck
Daryl LBZ Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 not really. a lil exhaust shop work, and you can get a single in single out flowmaster installed in the stock location and 3 inch all the way out to look stock. wont be but $230 or so Wow prices must be steep where you live. I had a Cherry Bomb Muffler put on with duals coming out the back with stainless tips for $320
Chris Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 for my setup. a flowmaster original 40 single 3" in dual 2.5" out and dumping before the axle, muffler in stock location was $180
