?blown Turbo

[Mach1 Dually]

Have a regular 2005 1 ton dually with duramax/allison and 146 000Km's. There is a turbo whine and engine warning light. It is at the dealer right now and they say either a sensor in the turbo or else turbo is gone. Given all the reliabilty and lack of problems on this forum does this sound right or what is happening?

A turbo is supposed to whistle, if it doesn't it's garbage and not putting out enough or not blowing off like it should.

I have heard of some people who have had the vane position sensor go out on lly duramax trucks. Very well could be the problem you have.

If it was a power stroke then I would say most definatly the turbo!

I hope it is just that vane sensor. Looking through the forums there certainly don't seem to be any reports about turbo issue on the lly. Dealer can't test the sensor without using a replacement so of course none available and waiting for one to get flown in.
