All Terrain Rolling Resistance

Looking for some new tires in about a 285/70/17 that are all terrain but have the least rolling resistance. I don't plan on doing much offroading but want to have the ability to make it through the muck if needed. Any suggestions? Thanks guys.

BFG A/T KOs. Best overall all terrain tire there is in my opinion. Great treadwear, great offroad, very aggressive look with low noise. You can easily get 60,000 miles out of a set of these tires is you rotate them correctly. I am on my 3rd set. You have a lot of option to find them at a good price because these tires are extremely popular, especially in 285/70/17. Mine are E-rated 285/70/17.

yeah you can never go wrong with BF Goodrich All Terrains. little more up front cost but will outlast all other all terrain type tires.

Almost no data exists for rolling resistance. Going for a lighter tire for decreased unsprung weight and less weight can play a role in fuel economy.

1500 or 2500 series?

 

If its a 1500 try finding a P or XL rated tire instead of an LT tire. You'll save a good 10-15 lbs per tire (depending which ones you're looking at) which'll make the biggest difference, at least for city mileage.

 

Pick any quality AT tire... Toyo AT, Cooper Zeons, Dueler REVO, etc. The rolling resistance between them isn't going to differ that much. If fuel mileage is really that big of a deal, don't get 285s; go with a thinner tire.

If you go to Tirerack.com and go to select tires by size there is a selection on the left sode for Low Rolling Resistance (LRR)tires. Most of the LRR tires are not goint to be a/t tires. A/t tires are designed by their nature to be somewhat "grippy". Most of the ones I saw were Highway tires (H/L type). Go take a look and see what you can find.

Unfortunately these three things are not available in the same tire.
