1. I didn't realize the new trucks have no rear wheel well protection, hopefully the dealer has them available or at least an aftermarket one. My 04 had them so I just assumed they would be standard....

2. I plan on adding a solid fold Extang trifold hard cover to the bed but I think to make it level with the tailgate spoiler I'll need to add bed rail protectors, also which I assumed were standard fare.... I love the new truck but you would think that when you spend enough to cover a few mortgages some things would be a given. Oh well at any rate I assume the dealership will have them available.

Sorry pic in next post....

Yes,GM offers rear wheel well liners as an accessory. I don't know how your '04 had them,GM never made any for the GMT800 trucks, unless they were aftermarket ones that the dealer added, but I never saw any available from the aftermarket before for the 800 trucks.

Also,GM stopped putting bed-rail protectors on the 5'8" short-bed trucks starting with the GMT900 platform in '07

Beat ya to it! I did the exact same mods as soon as I got my truck 3 months ago. Shop around for prices on the GM bed and wheel well protectors. After you get an idea you can probably leverage your dealer to sell them to you at a competative price.

After I purchased my recent truck, I did a lot of research for the best place to buy GM OEM parts for it. After checking numerous online locations, www.gmpartsdirect.com had the best prices. I purchased the 6" chrome assist steps, the under seat box for the back, the hood protector and window vents, front hooks-black and the rear wheel well inserts for less than $974.00 AND THAT INCLUDED SHIPPING! The inserts do give the truck a more finished look. Put all on with the help of a friend. you will pay probably another 5-6 hundred if you purchase all of this from the dealer and have them install. Good luck.

True,But thats because they came as part of the LPO dealer-installed protection package (as did your rear wheel well liners)

I meant GM stopped putting them on as standard equipment at the factory like they did on the '04-'07 GMT800 trucks with the 5'8" bed.

You may also remember that GMT800 duallies, stepsides, and Quadrasteer trucks also had factory bedrail protectors, they actually served two purposes on those trucks, not only to protect the top of the bedrails, but mainly to hide the bolts that was used to bolt the bedsides to the main bed box assembly, since those trucks used RIM composite bedsides and not metal ones.

just get under coat paint in a can and tape up your truck and cover the wheels and spray it in there

looks so much better on my white truck

Did you get any type of fasteners with them, like clips, buttons, screws?

I got the rear fender liners from gmpartsdirect, I think for $99 shipped.

Yea I agree with you Jay. The GMT-800's were a bit more "bang for your buck" truck compares to the GMT-900's. When I was shopping for my '10 truck, I was shocked how many stuff was not included as a "standard". It almost unpersuaded me from buying a new truck. But Im very happy what I got, plus I tend to keep my trucks for a long time.
