E85 Gas Station About To Open Up.

It's worth at least trying. You will get lower mileage. My truck is about 1.5 mpg lower on my specific route. I kinda figured out in my situation, I need about a 40 cent price differential to make it worthwhile.

Yeah. My window sticker shows hp numbers on e85 and reg gas and e85 shows more power.

A month ago, I was paying 1.99 for E85- while regular was maybe $2.64- in that month, regular has gone up maybe a nickel, while E85 has gone up about fifty cents. I was gloating filling up at less than $2 a gallon, now, at the current prices, I just buy regular gas- I figure at least a 10% difference in mileage, so, if the price isn't at least 10% less it really isn't a bargain.

You'll get less MPG, but the cost-per-mile usually is better. Even if it ain't, the fact that it burns cleaner and is produced domestically makes it worth while!

I have run E85 in my 2010 since January and run it off and on in my 08 Tahoe. As far as power gains I cant really feel any. The octane rating is higher for E85. I would say run it. It is $2.26 here (range has been 1.99 to 2.26).

Nope. E85 is much higher octane and has a higher compression ratio.

Fuel does not have a compression ratio.

Okay . . .

E85 can be run in an internal combustion engine that has a higher compression ratio. A higher compression ratio allows for higher power gains. :driving:

I wish, I just filled up today and it was $3.22 a gallon for E85 :driving:

it dosen't matter if you go e85 or 87...run the octane the truck is tuned for, e85 dosen't save you money you will break even running E10 or E85....octane dosen't equal power, i see imbred hillbillys dumping 5 bottles of octane boosters in their fords thinking its going to give them power gains to rival a corvette but no, all it does it cause smoking lol

If your engine is designed for E85 AND since E85 has an octane rating over 100, if you run it, your PCM *may* be able to advance the engine timing a little, and get a little more power out the fuel. 20 HP seems optimistic, but is possible, I suppose.

Stuff burns pretty clean, too- very little unburned hydrocarbon residues. If it is at least 10% cheaper than regular, I will buy it- otherwise, at similar prices, I buy regular since I get about 10% better mileage on gas rather than E85.
