Corvette Servo

Does changing out the servo on my Tahoe with the Corvette servo benefit anything or should i just let Justin with black bear performance tune my transmission. Or even do the Corvette servo with the black bear tune? I don't know what the true difference is. Any input would be great.

This is for someone that might know..... i have a bb tune already is it worth me getting the servo and would justin have to re-tune if i do!?

I did the vette servo before I got my tune, and it made quite a difference. I really liked the way to held out the 2-4 shifts. But once I got my tune, I was totally blown away in so many ways.

 

IMO I'd do the servo first, and then get the tune, or vice versa, just tell justin you plan on doing the servo, you won't be disappointed

What does the servo actually do. Whats its sole purpose?

it has a bigger apply surface (on the vette servo) to the band allowing for more pressure to be held on the band, allowing less slippage.

would it be worth getting the servo kit if you had planned on getting a BB tune? or would the tune basically look after everything replacing the servo would do? basically would the servo be a great idea for someone who doesnt want to tune there truck and kind of a waste of money for someone who is plannin on gettin a BB tune?

From a very reliable source...... dont want to throw names out...... he told me if you have a tune, and made the shifts firmer, and liked the way it shifted..... than a servo would probably feel uncomfortable.

 

In a nutshell....... i have a bb tune, it shifts exactly firm enough for me, and if i were to get a servo it would slam even harder..... thats not my preferance.

 

So you want firmer shifts but no tune..... get the servo from what i understand

Yes from what i read on here, the you just need to inform the tuners that you are running the servo, and in that case they will back of the line pressure a bit, so tha the shifts arent too firm. Generally tuners recommend doing the servos before the tune, so that they CAN run a lower line pressure. I guess the shifting can get irratic with the jacked up line pressure, and from my experience this is true. The combination of the servos with the tune makes it more predictable and constant, just because of the ability to run a little lower line pressure on the tune. (or however u wana say it.)

YES justin can/will accommodate for the servo. BUT in saying that..... if you do not have the servo and want both the servo and the tune- 1. go for both ( In my opinion its just a waste of money and time...Just me though) 2. Just get the tune (save money and time!)

It's better to have the corvette servo and the tune. With the servo you can get firmer shifts, better holding power without raising transmission line pressure as much. Lower pressure is better for the life of your trans pump
