Michael who? :D

I don't particularly care for Michael Vic, I think he's a gold digging a-hole (Well, so are 90% of all other major sports athletes today). Didn't like him when he was in VA Tech either.

Michael Vic got into VA Tech Solely on his talent as a football player, and IMO, it's wrong. No, let's not give the scholarship to a hard working indivdual who actually is trying to do something with his life, let's give it to some thug who wants nothing other than Fame & Fortune and be able to say "Hey Momma! I'm on TV!"

That's why I hate college Football, it's over-rated IMO. It's a waste of money and school-space.

Well, Yes. May I ask what you're getting at?

if you don't understand what I mean, think of it this way. (Warning: Racing analogy)

Would you want to watch TV coverage of a session at the "Skip Barber racing school", or "The Richard Petty Driving Experience"?

Hey, did you ever think about what happens with all that money the schools draw in from having a big time football program?  Obviously not, or you wouldn't have said that.  College sports are far from a waste of money and school space, in fact they are the complete opposite.  A percentage of the money colleges make off of sports will end up benefiting all the students who attend the school.  And I seriously doubt that by giving out x number of athletic scholarships keeps all that many people from getting academic scholarships.

As for the original topic, Urlacher made Vick and the Falcons look so bad that the only reason the Bears won is because of a missed last second field goal.  LOL

He's right.  College sports bring in tons of money to the schools, which goes to many places in the school.  As for scholarships, most schools have set amounts of money set aside to give out different type of scholarships.  And alot of the money donated to schools by alumni and such only goes to certain people that the donor designates.  A big time chemist who donates a few hundred thousand to his old school can say that money is for science scholarships only.  Athletic donors do make up alot of the money that schools have to give for athletic scholarships.  If it wasn't for all of the outside money that comes into schools, there wouldn't be much of any scholarships given out, especially at state run universities, they just don't get much money these days, they need most of the money to run the university and pay the employees...

So you are saying you'd rather watch a bunch of overpayed guys that could care less about a win (for the most part) since they are getting their paycheck regardless over a team of guys that are playing to win, because the both enjoy what they are doing, as well as trying to make themselves the best they can be so they can possibly go onto the next level?

Ever watched a pro basketball game?  How about a college basketball game?  Seen a difference?  The amount of intensity, showboating, and additudes are quite different between the two.  Same applies to football, I wouldn't say to the same degree, but there still is a gap.

You are saying that college sports are a waste of money and space.  Well, if you call it that, go right ahead.  Then explain how paying a guy millions of dollars a year to play a sport is money well spent, when the money that comes back from it is not spread among the community, rather the large percentage goes to the owner's pocket.  How is the space wasted more so in college than in the pros?  Football stadiums are pretty much the same no matter what the sport, but the physical training facilties are much more likely to be used by many more people on a college campus than those found in the pros.

Sure, pro sports has its exciting times, but you will never find me watching a NBA game, and rarely a MLB game, maybe I'll watch three quarters of pro football on a given weekend.  Now college sports, thats a different ballgame.

I prefer college sports.  The atheletes SEEM to be working harder/ more enthusiastic about winning the game.

Pro sports to me seem to mainly be a bunch of self entitled people that are trying to get paid as much as possible for as little effort as possible.

Absolutely!!  If you ever get a chance to see, "The Rookie" w/ Dennis Quaid, I'd highly recommend it.  It takes me back to when baseball still had the right attitude, although by his time (Jim Morris) it was changing.  I think this movie really tells what baseball, and all pro sports really should be like, in terms why the athletes are there!!

My 2 cents.  :D

General,

I agree with you on Vick being a jerk, but I love college football.  The way I see it, is that it's idiots like Vick who are ruining it for the fans and players who are playing because they love the game....

Larry Whigham of the bears said it best

"Chicago defensive back Larry Whigham described the 22-year-old Vick as "just a young kid who got beat up pretty well Sunday. I guess he's looking for some type of excuse.''

"We don't try to injure people,'' Whigham added. "We just try to inflict as much pain as we possibly can within the rules.''

If you cant take the heat get out tha kithcen
