Off Road Lights - Need Install Help

Hey Guys

Last night I install some 50 series offroad lights - wired them up exactly as shown in the diagram. Initially my switch LED came on, but the lights wouldn't. Then my switch LED wouldn't light up. Lights haven't worked yet. Guy that I called at KC wasn't very helpful. Can't figure out what I missed - any suggestions. Fuses looked good - may replace anyway. Thanks for any help.

i guess the first question is, can you scan in or some how post the diagram so we can see how they are supposed to be connected?

 

 

this is a pretty standard 12 volt relay setup: I should hope the wiring kit for the lights is set up this way, if it's not using a relay you could have some issues down the line:

additionally what type of LED switch are you using, and what does it look like on the back (how many posts/connectors) some use the power pass thru to light the LED, others have a separate power leads for the LED and still others have a power loop for the LED so it lights on with the lights and off with the lights..

The wiring diagram looks just like the one you posted. I'm using the switch included with the KC kit - it has a brown ground wire, and a white and green wire coming from the relay. That's how I have it wired up.

and the relay is plugged correctly?

 

yellow on post 30 to ACC power?

 

black on post 85 to ground?

 

green on post 86 from switch?

 

red on post 87 to lights?

 

 

 

try this:

 

remove the relay and jump post 30 to post 87, that is direct power from the switch to the lights DO NOT keep it on for very long just verify if they come on.

 

 

if they do they you have one of 2 problems:

 

bad relay (not likely) or a bad ground at the relay (more likely)

 

 

if they don't then you have one of 2 different problems:

 

bad switch (highly possible), bad ground @ the switch (highly likely)

UPDATE

Thanks for all the help. I finally got them working. I moved the ground to the negative terminal and move the switch ground to a new location. Just for good measure I put new fuses in. I think ultimately it was the switch ground though.
